Natural stone restoration Toronto — Andrews Professional Stone Care

For homeowners who chose real stone.

Natural stone doesn’t maintain itself. It just looks like it does.

Every natural stone surface in your home is responding to its environment right now. Some of it visibly. Some of it not yet.

The stone must be read before the work begins. That requires a rare kind of knowledge.

Most stone restoration failures come down to two things. The stone was misread. Or the technique was wrong for what the stone actually needed.

The craft Ted McFaddenA principal contributor who chaired two of the committees behind the Marble Institute of America’s Stone Restoration Standard, now part of the Natural Stone Institute. The benchmark the field measures itself against. Certified Master Stone Restoration Specialist under his programme. Our training is grounded in the standard he helped write.
The chemistry MB StoneFounded by Maurizio Bertoli in 1989. The specialty chemistry that changed how professional stone restoration is practised worldwide, carried forward today by Stu Rosen, our primary chemistry partner. It’s the chemistry our work is built on.
The forensic intelligence Fred HuestonFour decades in stone inspection and failure analysis. An IICRC instructor who trains other stone inspectors, and one of the most published authorities in the field, with over 30 books. We are Stone Restoration Master Course Certified through his programme. His diagnostic methodology is how we read the stone before anything else happens.

There is almost certainly a cleaning product under your sink right now that is damaging your natural stone. Most household cleaners sit outside the neutral pH 7 zone that is safe for natural stone. Acidic cleaners etch marble, travertine and limestone on contact. Alkaline cleaners strip the sealer from granite and quartzite session by session. The product that smells clean and seems to work is the one doing the quiet damage. It was never formulated for stone. It just never said so on the label.

Polishing returns the finish. Restoration goes deeper. Repair addresses what happened. All three start the same way.

“Beautiful stone doesn’t stay that way on its own.”

About

Stone restoration is technical work. What it does for people is something else entirely.

Andrews Professional Stone Care started by accident. A friend needed help. A temporary change of direction that never changed back. What became clear early was that restoring stone was never really about the stone.
